GLEN HELEN RACE REPORT

It was a podium weekend for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS as round two of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series returned to Southern California’s Glen Helen MX this past weekend. Blake Baggett scored the team’s first outdoor podium of the season on one of the series toughest tracks.

Blake Baggett threw his hat in the ring as a title contender with his 3rd place overall. His day started on the gas, as he posted the 6th fastest time in morning practice. As the gate dropped for moto 1, Baggett found himself outside of the top ten after the first lap. He made a charge to the front, slicing his way through the field to finish the moto in 8th place.

In moto 2, Blake put the power down to the ground using the power of his FMF Racing exhaust system, pulling a massive wheelie down most of the start straight to round the first turn in second place. Blake attacked the rough Glen Helen track and took over the lead early in the race. He slid back to 2nd at the mid-race mark and rode strong to a 2nd-place finish, giving him 3rd overall for the day.

“It was a good day” said Blake. “It’s good to start out the second round and end up on the box. First moto didn’t go as planned, by all means. My second moto, I turned it around and had a pretty good day. I had a good pace out there. We are making progress and will be ready to battle for the win at Lakewood next week.”

Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS now travels to the high altitude of Thunder Valley MX in Lakewood, Colorado, for round 3 of the 2017 Pro Motocross Outdoor Championship.
