THUNDER VALLEY RACE REPORT

It was an incredible day for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS as round 3 of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series headed to the high altitude of Lakewood, CO, and Thunder Valley MX this past weekend. With Bubba Burger fueling his ride, no one could stop Blake Baggett as he scored the team’s first overall win of the season.

Saturday proved to be Blake Baggett‘s day, as no one was going to match his speed on the Thunder Valley track. He didn’t start up front in moto 1, however, as Baggett found himself on the ground after being collected in a first-turn pileup. He would rejoin at the tail end of the pack, pull a tear-off from his Scott goggles and mount one of the most furious charges to the front of the field! Using every inch of the track, Baggett sliced his way through the competition to finish moto 1 with an impressive 3rd place.

Moto 2 was all Blake as he put the power to the ground and rounded the first turn in 2nd. It didn’t take long for him battle for the lead. Around the midpoint of the race, he closed the gap on the leader, Eli Tomac. Blake made the move using the fast line around the track and made the pass of the year to take over the lead. From there, he pulled away from the rest of the field, taking the win by over 12 seconds and scoring his and the team’s first 450MX moto and overall win.

“You can’t ask for a better weekend,” said Blake. “The bike worked perfect this weekend and allowed me to battle back in moto 1 and take the win in moto 2. I’m pumped to get this win for team, as they have been working hard all year.”

Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS will have a week off before traveling to High Point MX in Mt. Morris, PA, for round 4 of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
